She has also starred in a number of shows such as City of Angels, Chicago, Cabaret and Oliver and has been working on a number of films recently which are set to be released soon and has just released her self titled album under United Music.
I've been fortunate enough to see Samantha in a number of shows including her album preview at the St James Studio which I reviewed here and I am never let down!
Touring with Samantha is Alex Ellison who opened the show brilliantly. He sung a number of songs both originals and covers, using not only his voice but his beat-boxing and looping skills; his Hamilton/In The Heights mash up is truly what stagey dreams are made of!
Samantha has a way of transporting you with every word she sings so the evening at the Churchill Theatre was really like a mini holiday! The set list was pretty much the same as the album launch with lots of songs from the album combined with some other wonderful covers. I especially loved Samantha's rendition of Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now which was just stunning. The album is glorious and Samantha sounds exactly the same live as she does on the recording: a true testament to her talent. My personal favourites from the album are Holding On, The House is Empty Now and Stay but the whole album is beautiful.
Samantha is just one of the most lovely, cheerful, talented people. Her voice is so beautiful and her belt is one of the best I've ever heard. Every note is effortless from the bottom to the top of her range and I particularly love the new jazzy style that she is developing. I will continue to support Samantha in all her endeavours and I really urge you to purchase her album and if you can get to one of her tour dates you will be in for a huge treat!
