Casting Complete for Craig Wright’s The Unseen at Riverside Studios
The highly anticipated London debut of Craig Wright’s gripping play, The Unseen, is set to premiere at Riverside Studios on November 15, 2024. Featuring a stellar cast, this intense drama explores themes of resilience, power, and survival under oppressive regimes.
The cast includes BAFTA Cymru Award-winner Richard Harrington (Fisherman’s Friends: One and All, Home I’m Darling) as Wallace, Waj Ali (Carnival Row, King Lear) as Valdez, and Ross Tomlinson (Allelujah, This Is Going to Hurt) as Smash, a conflicted prison guard. Directed by Iya Patarkatsishvili, with set and costume design by Simon Kenny, The Unseen promises to captivate London audiences.
First performed in 2007 at the Humana Festival, The Unseen focuses on two prisoners, Wallace and Valdez, who, trapped in a brutal totalitarian regime, communicate through the walls of their cells. Amidst cycles of hope and despair, they forge a bond and create personal philosophies to make sense of their confinement. Meanwhile, their torturer, Smash, wrestles with his conscience, setting the stage for an explosive conclusion.
The Unseen has lighting by Anna Watson and sound by Mike Walker. Danny Short serves as composer and executive producer alongside Peter Huntley and Callum Runciman for Smart Entertainment.
Post-Performance Discussions & Special Exhibition
Audiences will also have the chance to attend a series of post-performance discussions, featuring expert guest speakers on human rights and the play’s themes, supported by the Russian Democratic Society. Sinitta to join Chicago as Mama Morton in Bradford and Stoke
David Ian for Crossroads Live, in association with Barry and Fran Weissler, is thrilled to announce that international pop star Sinitta will join the UK and Ireland tour of Chicago as Mama Morton for a strictly limited run. Sinitta will perform at Bradford’s Alhambra Theatre (21–26 October 2024) and Stoke’s Regent Theatre (25–30 November 2024).
Sinitta expressed her excitement, saying: I’m so excited to be returning to Chicago. I jumped at the chance to step back into Mama Morton’s shoes for two weeks on the upcoming UK and Ireland tour. To return to the stage with these incredible musicians and a stunning company doing amazing choreography is a dream come true. The role of Mama has certainly been good to me, and I can’t wait to rub shoulders with my merry murderesses again!

Max Harwood to Star as Percy Jackson in Musical's West End Premiere
Stepping into the shoes of a demigod and taking on the lead role of Percy Jackson for the London premiere of The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical is Max Harwood (Stranger Things: The First Shadow, Everybody’s Talking About Jamie).
Max Harwood, who gained widespread acclaim in 2021 for his breakout role as Jamie New in the film adaptation of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie, has quickly made a name for himself on both stage and screen. His performances have included roles in Netflix’s Black Mirror and the Olivier Award-winning Stranger Things: The First Shadow. Now, Harwood is set to take up Percy Jackson’s lightning bolt as he leads the cast in this thrilling musical adaptation.

Kinky Boots The Musical features a score by Cyndi Lauper and a book by Harvey Fierstein, with direction by Curve’s Artistic Director Nikolai Foster. The story, based on real events and the 2005 film, follows Charlie Price, a man trying to save his family’s failing shoe factory. When he meets Lola, a charismatic drag queen, their collaboration brings hope, reinvention, and a splash of glamour to the business.
With its uplifting message of celebrating individuality and finding common ground, Kinky Boots promises to “Raise You Up” starting January 2025.
The production is helmed by Nikolai Foster, featuring choreography by Leah Hill, set and costume design by Robert Jones, musical supervision by George Dyer, lighting design by Ben Cracknell, sound design by Adam Fisher, casting by Harry Blumenau CDG CDA, and wigs, hair, and make-up design by Campbell Young Associates.

Tom Fletcher’s There’s a Monster in Your Show to Return for New Tour
The cast for this tour includes talented puppeteers like Charlie Daniels, Josh Macrow, Ben Murrell, Ashton Owen, and Gil Sidaway. The tour will start at Watford Palace Theatre in October 2023 and is expected to visit over 50 venues across the UK, running through June 2024
Cast Announced for Spend Spend Spend Musical Revival
The Royal Exchange Theatre has announced the cast for its festive musical production of Spend Spend Spend, which will run from 23 November 2024 to 11 January 2025. The 1998 musical, with a book and lyrics by Steve Brown and Justin Greene, is based on the life of Viv Nicholson, famous for her big lottery win and extravagant spending. The production will be directed by Josh Seymour.
Leading the cast, Rachel Leskovac will star as Viv Nicholson, with Rose Galbraith portraying Young Viv. Rebecca Thornhill will take on dual roles as Viv’s mother and Mrs Waterman.
Alex James-Hatton will play Keith, Viv’s second husband, while Joe Alessi will portray her father George, and Lejaun Sheppard will appear as Johnny Love.
The ensemble cast includes Jamil Abbasi, Abigail Brodie, George Crawford, Ayesha Maynard, Rachel Moran, Alfie Parker, and Karen Wilkinson.
Director Josh Seymour shared his enthusiasm for the production, stating: “Spend Spend Spend is packed with hilarious and heartbreaking songs which will explode with energy when delivered by our brilliant cast and band. Audiences can expect a bittersweet rollercoaster of a story as we follow Viv through the highs and lows of life. She’s a great character to spend an evening with – wild, witty and warm.”
The creative team for Spend Spend Spend is comprised of a talented group, including Grace Smart as designer, Jack Knowles as lighting designer, and Richard Brooker and Nick Lodge as sound designers. Lucy Hind serves as choreographer and intimacy director, while Ben Ferguson takes on the roles of music supervisor, arranger, and co-orchestrator. Matthew Malone is the orchestral manager and co-orchestrator, and Livi van Warmelo will be the musical director.

Howell Binkley’s brilliant lighting design transforms the relatively simple set into myriad locations, evoking a sense of intimacy and immediacy that brings the story to life. The lighting shifts subtly to reflect both the tension and warmth of each scene, helping audiences feel every moment of hope, uncertainty, and joy. Kelly Devine’s choreography is equally impressive- fluid and organic, it mirrors the natural rhythms of life in Gander and the mingling of so many lives, capturing the bustling energy of the community while maintaining a focus on small, authentic human interactions.
The music, with its Celtic-inspired score composed by Sankoff and Hein, is the heartbeat of the production. From the powerful opening number, 'Welcome to the Rock,' to the joyful 'Screech In,' the songs are infused with East Coast flair, featuring lively fiddles, bodhrans, and an ensemble that sings and plays with palpable passion. Under the direction of Andrew Corcoran, the music beautifully conveys both the emotional highs and lows, transporting audiences to Newfoundland with its driving rhythms and haunting melodies.
More than just a musical, Come From Away is an experience that reminds us of the inherent goodness within people. The uplifting message is amplified by the Pay It Forward initiatives that the production actively supports. Trafalgar Releasing, in collaboration with the Donmar Warehouse, has announced the cinema release of Macbeth, starring David Tennant and Cush Jumbo. This sold-out production, currently playing in London's West End, will be screened in cinemas across the UK, US, Australia, and select international locations starting February 5, 2025. Matilda the Musical to Embark on New UK and Ireland Tour
The Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) has exciting news for musical theatre lovers: Matilda The Musical will launch its second major tour across the UK and Ireland in October 2025. The tour kicks off at Curve Theatre in Leicester on October 6, 2025, and will run simultaneously with the show's West End production.
Based on Roald Dahl’s beloved book, Matilda The Musical tells the inspiring story of a determined young girl who uses her vivid imagination to overcome life's challenges. The musical has achieved remarkable success, amassing over 100 awards, including an impressive 24 Best Musical accolades. Audiences can look forward to hearing iconic songs such as "Quiet," "Naughty," "When I Grow Up," and "Revolting Children." Additionally, a film adaptation released in 2022 is available on Netflix, broadening the show's reach even further.
Written by Dennis Kelly, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and direction by Matthew Warchus, the production also boasts a talented creative team, including Rob Howell (set and costume design), Peter Darling (choreography), Christopher Nightingale (orchestrations and musical supervision), Hugh Vanstone (lighting), Simon Baker (sound), and Paul Kieve (special effects and illusions).
In a recent interview, Minchin reflected on the show's enduring popularity: “When we first started working on the show, our aim was to make a lovely little jewel of a musical for the RSC’s Courtyard Theatre in Stratford-upon-Avon. We never imagined that all these years later it would still be running in the West End, have been made into a film, and is now about to embark on its second tour of the UK and Ireland. The tour will celebrate its 15th anniversary at Curve Theatre, where it will run until October 25, 2025. Following that, it will continue to various venues, including the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford (October 30 to November 23), the Liverpool Empire (December 2 to January 4, 2026), Theatre Royal Plymouth (January 13 to February 7), Sunderland Empire (February 11 to 28), Edinburgh Playhouse (March 4 to 22), and Manchester Palace Theatre (March 26 to April 25). Additional dates are expected to be announced in the future.
Priority booking for RSC and Theatre Members/Friends, as well as ATG+ Members, opens at 10 a.m. on October 22, 2024, with general ticket sales starting on October 24, 2024, for most venues (with exceptions for Curve and Theatre Royal Plymouth). Titanique has announced its full cast for the highly anticipated West End run at the Criterion Theatre, starting on December 9, 2024, with a press night scheduled for January 9, 2025. This musical combines the music of Celine Dion with the beloved film Titanic, featuring iconic songs like “My Heart Will Go On,” “All by Myself,” and “To Love You More.”
Originally premiering off-Broadway in June 2022, Titanique has garnered critical acclaim and multiple awards, including seven major accolades in the 2022/23 theatre season, such as three Lucille Lortel Awards and the Off-Broadway Alliance Award for Best New Musical. Co-written by Tye Blue, Marla Mindelle, and Constantine Rousouli, the show has seen a successful run in New York before making its way to London.

Sing Street Musical Set for UK Premiere Next Summer
Sing Street: A New Musical is set to make its UK premiere at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre next summer, with performances running from 8 July to 23 August 2025 and a press night on 18 July. Based on John Carney’s much-loved 2016 coming-of-age film, the musical tells the story of a 16-year-old Dubliner in the 1980s, who forms a band to escape his struggles at home and win the heart of a girl.
The stage version, which was first seen in Boston and New York before the pandemic, has a book by Enda Walsh, with music and lyrics by Gary Clark and John Carney. Les Misérables, Billy Elliot and others to be Released in Cinemas for Anniversary Celebrations
Get ready for a cinematic treat! Six filmed stage productions are set to grace cinema screens over the next six months, offering theatre fans a unique chance to experience some of the most celebrated performances from the comfort of their local theatres. Produced by CinemaLive, these screenings will mark significant milestones for each production.
Kicking off the series, Miss Saigon, filmed during its 25th anniversary gala performance at the Prince Edward Theatre in 2016, is currently being shown in cinemas. Following that, the beloved classic The Phantom of the Opera, which celebrated its own 25th anniversary at the Royal Albert Hall in 2011, will screen on November 3 and 5. This production stars Ramin Karimloo and Sierra Boggess, showcasing their incredible talents in a visually stunning performance.
Next up, the award-winning Girl From the North Country, written by Conor McPherson and featuring 20 songs by the legendary Bob Dylan, will be screened on November 21 and 24. West End Does: Christmas is returning this December, and this year, it’s bringing a delightful Oz-themed twist to the festivities. The concert will blend holiday classics with beloved songs from The Wizard of Oz and Wicked, just as the film adaptation of Wicked prepares to grace UK cinemas a few days before the event, making for perfect timing.
The concerts will feature two choirs and a full West End orchestra, all under the direction of musical maestro Samuel Wilson. The National Theatre has announced the complete cast for its highly anticipated revival of Oscar Wilde’s classic comedy, The Importance of Being Earnest. Directed by Max Webster, this production marks his debut at the National Theatre and is set to run at the Lyttelton Theatre from November 20, 2024, to January 25, 2025.
The stellar cast features Sharon D Clarke as the formidable Lady Bracknell, Ncuti Gatwa as the charming Algernon Moncrieff, and Hugh Skinner as the earnest Jack Worthing. Lucy's writing is light, engaging, and full of charm, creating a world that feels grounded in reality but dusted with just enough magic to keep you on your toes. It’s this balance that makes the book feel both relatable and thrilling- an exciting escape that still feels close to home.
At the heart of the story is Belle, a young woman in her twenties who is on a journey of self-discovery. She’s navigating the complexities of friendship, love, and her growing abilities as a witch. What makes Belle such a relatable character is her vulnerability- her self-doubt, uncertainty, and introspective nature are portrayed in a way that many readers, especially those, like me, in their twenties, will find familiar. Her love for books and reading added an extra layer of depth to her character, which really resonated with me as a fellow book lover.
One of the standout elements of Rewitched is the way Lucy Jane Wood captures that feeling of trying to find your place in the world- whether in relationships, career, or simply figuring out who you want to be. Belle’s internal struggles, particularly her self-doubt, are written with honesty and sensitivity, giving her a relatable, human quality that grounds the magical elements of the story. I also appreciated how Belle’s passion for books was woven into the narrative- it made her feel even more real, and I loved that a character so deeply rooted in magic was also a lover of literature.
The romance subplot between Belle and Rune added a lovely dimension to the story. The slow-burn dynamic between them was enjoyable, but I did feel that it could have been developed a bit further. While the chemistry between them was palpable, there were moments where I was left wanting more- more depth, more interaction, and more emotional payoff. At times, it felt like there were missed opportunities to delve deeper into their relationship. Additionally, there were a few plot points that seemed like they were going to tie into the larger story but didn’t quite pan out. Some plot threads were left hanging, which left me wanting a bit more closure by the end.
That being said, the book's pace was fast and engaging, keeping me invested even when I could predict certain twists. I did guess the main plot twist before it happened, but it didn’t detract too much from my enjoyment of the story. The magic and mystery unfolded with a steady momentum that kept things exciting, and despite a few loose ends, I found myself eager to see how everything would play out.
What really sets Rewitched apart from other witchy reads is the slightly more grown-up feel it has. While it maintains a fun, cosy atmosphere, the themes of self-doubt, identity, and navigating young adulthood give it more depth than you might expect from a typical seasonal read. Lucy Jane Wood's writing brings a level of warmth and charm that makes this book feel comforting, while still providing enough magic and intrigue to keep it engaging.
Rewitched is a delightful, autumnal escape that’s perfect for anyone looking for a magical yet relatable read. The characters, especially Belle, are easy to connect with, and the world Lucy has created is both familiar and exciting. Enemies to Lovers by Laura Jane Williams is a sweet, fun read that I lapped up, especially given the perfectly matched setting—I read it on a beach in Greece, just like the characters’ family holiday destination! The novel is a delightful blend of summer vibes, humour, and romance that will satisfy any reader.
As the name suggests, the plot follows the classic enemies-to-lovers trope, with two characters who initially clash but gradually uncover deeper feelings for each other. The dynamic between the leads is engaging, filled with sharp banter and witty exchanges that had me chuckling throughout. The chemistry is undeniable, and Williams does a great job of building tension between them before allowing the romance to blossom in a satisfying way.
One of the standout elements of this book is its summery atmosphere. The vivid descriptions of the Greek island transported me directly into the story. The lazy days, family dinners, and warm evenings in Greece are beautifully captured, making it the perfect companion for a beach holiday, or to transport you if you're at home.
However, the pacing of the novel felt a bit uneven at times. While the initial setup and the growing attraction between the characters were well-paced, certain parts of the middle dragged, and I found myself wishing for a bit more momentum. That said, the book’s charm lies in its light-heartedness and the way it effortlessly combines humour with heartfelt moments.
Williams also delves into the topic of mental health, which adds a layer of depth to the otherwise breezy narrative. The portrayal is sensitive and relatable, particularly in how the characters’ past experiences shape their present behavior and relationships. This aspect of the story felt authentic and necessary, though it might not be as thoroughly explored as some readers might hope.
Overall, Enemies to Lovers is an enjoyable read that perfectly captures the essence of a summer romance, especially if you happen to be reading it in a similar setting. While it didn’t resonate with me quite as strongly as Our Stop by the same author, it’s still a sweet story with plenty of witty one liners, warmth, and heartfelt moments to keep you engaged. If you’re looking for a book that combines sun-soaked settings with a feel-good romance, this one is worth picking up.

I’d heard incredible things and knew it would be good, but I wasn’t quite prepared for just how extraordinary it would be. As the confetti rained down and the final notes of 'Karma' rang out, I realised I’d just experienced something life-changing- an event that will stay with me forever. Over the course of three and a half hours, Taylor Swift delivered a performance that was nothing short of mesmerising, uniting a crowd of 92,000 people through her sheer talent and undeniable magnetism.
The Eras Tour, featuring over 50 songs, is a testament to Taylor’s remarkable journey, spanning her early country roots to her chart-topping pop hits and beyond. The scale of her fame is truly unparalleled, yet she carries it with effortless grace, infusing her performance with joy, playfulness, and an infectious energy that makes the entire experience feel both intimate and monumental.
Everything about The Eras Tour is big and bold. Every detail, from the intricately designed sets- such as a Folklore-inspired house and giant floating clouds- to the impeccable lighting, was executed to perfection. The visuals were stunning, creating a dynamic and immersive atmosphere that felt like a cinematic masterpiece come to life. It’s difficult to convey the impact of certain moments, but it’s truly a heart-pounding, adrenaline-fuelled experience from start to finish.
What truly stood out was the sense of community that permeated the entire event. In a world where division and isolation often dominate, this show reminded us of the power of music to bring people together. The Eras Tour wasn’t just a concert; it was a celebration of fandom. The collective energy of the audience, singing along to every word, dancing, and sharing in the moment, was a powerful reminder of music's unifying force. If you could bottle up and share the joy that a Taylor Swift concert creates, the world would be a much brighter place.
Taylor herself is unlike anyone I’ve ever seen before. Her presence on stage is magnetic and powerful, yet she brings touches of her characteristic goofiness and fun, with quirky little movements and facial expressions that make her feel relatable and endearing. Seeing her give so much on stage was inspiring, and I am more in awe than ever after witnessing her not miss a beat.

As they uncover their intertwined destinies, they face dangerous truths and a burgeoning romance. The novel is a rich blend of fantasy, intrigue, and romance.
Sarah A. Parker delivers an engaging fantasy romance in When The Moon Hatched, filled with magical intrigue and heartfelt moments. The world-building is richly detailed, creating a vivid backdrop for the story. The author constructs a world where ancient magic pulses just beneath the surface, waiting to be discovered. The setting is immersive, with unique cultural and magical elements that add depth to the narrative.
The characters are compelling and well-developed. Raeve stands out as a strong and multi-faceted protagonist. Her journey is captivating, and the romance woven throughout is genuinely engaging. The chemistry between Raeve and Kaan is palpable, and I found myself rooting for their relationship throughout the book. The supporting characters, while sometimes not fully fleshed out, add layers to the narrative and set up potential future conflicts and alliances.
One notable critique is the pacing and length of the book. At over 600 pages, the story feels drawn out at times, with certain sections that could have been more concise. For such a long novel, there are stretches where not a lot happens, and the plot meanders through world-building and side stories. This can make the book feel slower than necessary, though it also provides a comprehensive setup for future instalments. Despite these pacing issues, the writing is compelling and engaging. Sarah A. Parker's style is smooth and immersive, making it easy to race through the book even when the plot slows down.
I personally don't think When The Moon Hatched is quite as good as the hype suggests but it's definitely an enjoyable read that successfully sets the stage for an exciting series. While it could have benefited from being shorter and more tightly paced, the fascinating world-building, endearing romance, and engaging writing make it a worthwhile experience. The book promises much for future entries, and I'm eager to see where Parker takes the story next.
