The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium review: A Delightfully Nostalgic Experience

Magic, wonder, and unforgettable melodies reign supreme as you step into the mesmerising world of The Wizard of Oz at the London Palladium. This enchanting production, a transfer from the Leicester Curve, weaves a delightful experience that is sure to captivate audiences of all ages.
Thanks to Nikolai Foster’s direction, once the curtain rises you will find yourself immersed in a world of imagination and fantasy. The detailed costumes, effective sets and strong video effects seamlessly blend together to create a visual spectacle that fits so well with the whimsical and well-loved world of Oz. The semi-modern, steampunk aesthetic lends a unique twist to the classic tale, infusing it with a fresh and vibrant energy.
The cast of The Wizard of Oz delivers exceptional performances, breathing life into the beloved characters with charm and charisma. Dorothy, portrayed by the stunning Georgina Onuorah with innocence and determination, effortlessly captures our hearts as she embarks on her journey to find her way back home. Joining Dorothy on yellow brick road are three iconic friends she makes. Searching for courage, the Cowardly Lion is played superbly well by Jason Manford, who is perfectly evocative of Lahr in the film but with a spin of his own that really works. Looking for a heart the Tin Man is oiled by well by Ashley Banjo who creates some really brilliant moments; the vocals aren’t as stellar as they could be but his dance skills and charisma more than make up for it. Completing the quad is Louis Gaunt as the Scarecrow searching for a heart, who is utterly charming and a real triple threat. The chemistry between the group is well portrayed, however on stage you don’t feel as a strong of a connection to their journey and never root for them quite enough; their story is enjoyable but not as emotionally intense as it could be.
The other supporting cast members shine in their respective roles, each bringing their own unique flair and personality to the story. Christina Bianco’s Glinda and Dianne Pilkington’s Wicked Witch of the West are throughly entertaining, if a little underdeveloped but both provide some of the stand solos of the show. The musical numbers in The Wizard of Oz combine Andrew Lloyd Webber's new compositions with the beloved songs from the classic film and while Webber's additions may not steal the spotlight, they seamlessly blend with the original score, enriching the overall experience. The familiar melodies of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow’ and ‘Follow the Yellow Brick Road’ undoubtedly take centre stage, evoking a wave of nostalgia and bringing smiles to the faces of the audience.
This musical really does exactly what you’d expect it to in telling the story which so many love. All the classic moments are featured and there are also some fun things to spot such as Ozified show names (West Witch Story, Margaret Hamilton etc…) a hidden Olaf and some swanky costumes which are truly Ozian. However, act two is a little bit lacking as a whole, with the video aspect which is so effective in act one, becoming gimmicky and a little basic, especially when showing the wicked witch’s army and the flying monkeys. Moments which could have been really awe-inspiring are instead brushed over and there’s never a true wow moment.
A way the production does soar is in how it pays heartfelt homage to the original book by Frank L. Baum, incorporating references that will surely delight fans. The inclusion of Dorothy's return to Kansas in her Oz dress adds a touch of nostalgia, serving as a loving nod to the source material. These thoughtful gestures elevate the production, reminding us of the timeless charm that made the story a classic in the first place.
It’s not a faultless show but The Wizard of Oz offers a delightful escape into a world of fantasy and adventure. With its talented cast, striking visuals, and heartfelt nods to the original, this production is well worth seeing. Whether you are reliving cherished childhood memories or experiencing the magic for the very first time, this show will transport you to a place where dreams come true and a trip to Oz should definitely be part of your summer plans.

Andrew Lloyd Webber would have been over the rainbow with the Sydney premier of The Wizard of Oz. From the moment the stage curtains opened, the audience were captivated. Personally, just for a moment, I forgot whether I was watching a movie or a show because of the pure essence of the way that the stage was set and the way digital media was used to give the audience a feeling of inclusion in the story and world of Oz.
Samantha Dodemaide does a whimsical job of taking us into the land of fantasy (apart from Dorothy’s red shoe coming off her foot when it was supposed to be stuck!) This slip up was ignored with grace from Samantha as the audience giggled and quickly forgot, whilst she continued to perfectly capture the golden-age naivety. Lucy Durack as Glinda won me over with her witty one-liners and effervescent outfit. Eli Cooper’s Scarecrow act was certainly not spineless – his bendy limbs wrapped us in admiration; alongside John Xintavelonis’ Cowardly Lion’s witty and ‘scary’ roar and Tin Man’s (Alex Rathgeber) heartless love and robotic movements. The Wicked Witch of the West (Jemma Rix) – well, that laugh explains why she was the perfect person to embody her character, for not one moment did I not adore her evilness, as weird as that may sound- she was brilliant!
The star of the show was the costume and set design by Robert Jones, supported by Jon Driscoll and Daniel Brodie’s engrossing video and projection work. Vorticist projections were used to evoke the Kansas cyclone that took Dorothy into the dreamworld and took us there too. The lighting and effects used on the walls of the theatre enhanced the experience and created an ethereal atmosphere that delved us straight onto the yellow brick road and at times I really felt like I was a part of the show.
The costumes were visually appeasing – what particularly impressed the audience was when Dorothy’s dress changed colour as she conducted a twirl across the stage from her regular dress to a sparkly green version as she entered Emerald City. The screens used to create the feeling of depth were perfectly controlled and used well to create the feeling of distance to emerald city. My highlight was when Dorothy, Tin Man, Cowardly Lion & Scarecrow were put in the dome by the Wizard – it looked so 3D and realistic, everyone was astounded.
I was taken back to my childhood through the music. Samantha Dodemaide’s voice projects an innocence yet heart wrenching power, like a force leading her back home to Kansas. Although since 1939, The Wizard of Oz has taken on many variations, this one stays grounded in the characters and echoes that there is no place like home, even with its modern twist.

Theatre You Can Stream For FREE
With no end in sight to this lockdown, the boredom may be setting in for a lot of people so I thought I'd make a little round up of some FREE theatre you can watch from your home. Now some of these do rely on you having a Netflix, Disney+ and/or Amazon Prime account but I assume most people do! There are also some no subscription shows at the end. Netflix has a whole host of binge-worthy films and series, with a great selection of musicals including:
The Wizard of Oz: A young farm girl Dorothy (Judy Garland) and her dog Toto are whisked away from their Kansas home in a tornado to the magical land of Oz. A complete classic, with whimsy to take you away and a load of tunes to sing along to.
Burlesque: Ali (Christina Aguilera) is a singer who moves to LA in hopes of achieving her dreams. After getting a job at a burlesque lounge, Ali performs there nightly and helps the lounge's owner (Cher) restore the club to its original glory. It's a film of absolute boppage with two musical queens.
La La Land: While navigating their careers in Los Angeles, a pianist (Ryan Gosling) and an actress (Emma Stone) fall in love. As they start to experience professional success, they struggle in their relationship and have to decide between love and doing what they love.
Opening Night: A failed Broadway singer who now works as a production manager must save opening night on his new production by wrangling his eccentric cast and crew. Starring Lesli Margherita and Taye Diggs.

West Side Story: Romeo and Juliet told through the street gangs of New York City — The Sharks and The Jets. When Tony (Richard Beymer), a Jet, falls in love with Maria (Natalie Wood), a Shark, drama ensues as the gangs fight one another and Tony and Maria fight for their love.
Crazy Ex Girlfriend: Rebecca Bunch, a New York City real-estate lawyer abandons her job and her life in an attempt to find happiness in the unlikely locale of West Covina, California. It's hilarious and heart-warming and the music (by Rachel Bloom) is completely genius.
Disney+ there are of course all the live action movies on here as well as the classic Disney films such as Annie, The Sound of Music, Frozen etc... but here are a few other things you may have missed/not gotten round to yet:
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: If you haven't watched this, you'll probably think it's rubbish but it's actually really entertaining and has some great songs. The main plot point is that the school where the HSM movie was filmed are putting on their own production of the musical, but amongst that there's teen romance, rivalries and over the top musical numbers.
Newsies: Based on the real-life Newsboy Strike of 1899, this musical tells the story of Jack Kelly (Jeremy Jordan), a rebellious newsboy who dreams of a life as an artist away from the big city. After publishing giant Joseph Pulitzer raises newspaper prices at the newsboys' expense, Kelly and his fellow newsies take action. The dancing, the choreo, the cast- it's all exceptional and worth a watch purely just for Jezza singing Santa Fe!
Encore!: Hosted by Kristen Bell, this series takes adults back to high school to revive the musicals they were a part of in their youth. There's a great selection of musicals included from Godspell to The Sound of Music and it's lovely to see theatre kids who have all taken different directions in life reunite through a shared love.
Amazon Prime has a few more rogue theatrical selections as well as some great documentaries; some of my favourites are:
Once: The story of Girl meeting Guy. He, is a Dublin busker on the brink of walking away from music after having his heart broken and feeling unheard in a bustling world; whilst, she is a force for change who exudes positivity from the moment their worlds collide. In the space of a few days, their lives become beautifully connected and changed forever.
The Last Five Years: This show chronicles the lives of a struggling actress (Anna Kendrick) and a successful writer (Jeremy Jordan) as they journey through their ultimately doomed relationship. Told from two perspectives, this is just a beautiful piece of theatre.
Wild Rose: Fresh out of prison, a Scottish woman (Jessie Buckley) juggles her job and two children while pursuing her dream of becoming a country music star. She soon gets her chance when she travels to Nashville, on a life-changing journey to discover her true voice. Featuring both original music and covers, this is a lovely, lovely film.
Jesus Christ Superstar: Based on Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice's musical, JCS recounts the last days of Jesus Christ (Ted Neeley) from the perspective of Judas Iscariot (Carl Anderson), his betrayer.
Hamilton: One Shot to Broadway: If you're a Hamilton fan this is a must watch. It looks at how the hit musical came to be and features snippets of the show as well as interviews and archive footage.
Aside from what's available on these regular streaming platforms, the brilliant creatives from the world of theatre have put together some amazing online resources:
National Theatre at Home: Each week the National Theatre are streaming plays from their archives on YouTube. Each show stays up for 7 days and there's a whole variety of genres. This week's stream is Frankenstein with Anthony and Cleopatra going live on Thursday and more to be announced. Check out the channel here

Full Tour Cast of Annie Revealed with Craig Revel Horwood, Paul O'Grady and Jodie Prenger and More
Michael Harrison and David Ian are delighted to announce full casting for the forthcoming UK and Ireland tour of their smash hit production of the musical ANNIE opening at Curve, Leicester on Saturday 25 February 2023. Joining the previously announced Craig Revel Horwood and Paul O’Grady, will be Scottish BAFTA winner Elaine C Smith and Jodie Prenger, all starring as ‘Miss Hannigan’ at various venues. Alongside them will be Alex Bourne as Oliver Warbucks, Paul French as Rooster, Amelia Adams as Grace Farrell, and Billie-Kay as Lily St. Regis. The title role of Annie is shared by Zoe Akinyosade, Harlie Barthram and Poppy Cunningham. They are joined by three teams of young performers who play the residents of Miss Hannigan’s orphanage.
Completing the cast will be Emily Barnett-Salter, Alistair Beattie, David Burrows, Sergi Ibanez, Rosalind James, Belle Kizzy Green, Ellie May-Wilson, Martin McCarthy, Phoebe Roberts, Lukin Simmonds, Matthew Sweet, Dawn Williams, and Tommy Wade-Smith.

He returns to the part of Miss Hannigan having played the role to critical acclaim in this production in both the West End and on tour. His other West End Theatre credits include Munkustrap in Cats, Miss Saigon at the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and Harry in Crazy for You at the Prince Edward Theatre. Craig directed and choreographed Strictly Ballroom the Musical which is currently touring the UK and Ireland, and the 2016/17 tour of Sister Act the Musical, as well as the Strictly Come Dancing Live tour. He also choreographed the film Paddington 2.
BAFTA Award winning television, radio and stage star Paul O’Grady returns to Annie having first played the role of Miss Hannigan at the Victoria Palace Theatre in 1998. His other theatre credits include playing the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium and many pantomimes including Cinderella and Goldilocks and the Three Bears at the London Palladium. On television he is best known as the host of ITV’s Paul O’Grady: For the Love of Dogs, Paul O’Grady’s Great British Escape, The Paul O’Grady Show, Channel 4’s Blind Date and BBC One’s Blankety Blank. He is also a highly celebrated writer, having written both autobiographical and fictional books and recently completed a 14 year run as a presenter on BBC Radio 2.
Elaine C Smith is perhaps best known for playing Mary Doll in the BBC comedy Rab C Nesbitt, as well as her role as Christine in the BBC sitcom Two Doors Down, for which she won a Scottish BAFTA for Best Actress in 2018. On stage she consistently headlines major pantomimes, having just finished her 13th year at Glasgow King’s Theatre. She played Cora in the original UK Tour and West End run of Calendar Girls as well as playing Susan Boyle in the UK tour of I Dreamed A Dream which she co-write with Alan McHugh.
Jodie Prenger recently joined ITV’s Coronation Street as Glenda Shuttleworth. Her West End credits include A Taste of Honey at the Trafalgar Studios. Oliver! at Theatre Royal Drury Lane, One Man Two Guvnors at Theatre Royal Haymarket and Spamalot at the Playhouse Theatre. On tour she has appeared in Abigail’s Party, Shirley Valentine, Annie, Fat Friends, Tell Me on A Sunday and Calamity Jane. On television she has appeared in the BBC’s Shakespeare & Hathaway, Years and Years, Casualty and Waterloo Road.

On film he can be seen in Sony Pictures’ Cinderella.

Amelia Adams has most recently been seen in the UK Tour of Friends! The Musical Parody. Her previous theatre credits include Lois Lane/Bianca in Kiss Me, Kate for Welsh National Opera, Mary Delgado in Jersey Boys at the Piccadilly Theatre and on tour, Martha Burelli in The Rat Pack at the Haymarket Theatre and on tour. She has also appeared in the UK Tour of Hairspray and Spamalot both in the West End and on tour.
Billie-Kay recently appeared as Angel in Anything Goes at the Barbican and its UK and Ireland tour. She has also appeared as Dale Tremont in Top Hat at The Mill at Sonning and in 42nd Street at Theatre Royal Drury Lane. On film she has appeared in Disney’s Dis-Enchanted and Beauty and the Beast, and Sony Pictures’ Cinderella.

Wicked Movie Review: Everything we Hoped For and More
Like so many, I’ve been enchanted by Wicked since I was young. The musical shaped my childhood, inspired my imagination, and stayed with me through every stage of life (my dog is literally called Elphie!) When news of a film adaptation first surfaced all those years ago, my heart soared, though tempered with the hope that they would do justice to something so pivotal to me and countless others. It’s been a long yellow brick road, with years of speculation, rumours and anticipation, but now that it’s here, Wicked: The Movie exceeds every expectation and delivers a spectacle that was worth every moment of the wait.
Director Jon M. Chu has not only brought the world of Oz to life- he has redefined what a movie musical can be. This film doesn’t just enchant; it moves, it stirs, and it utterly inthralls. From the first soaring notes of 'No One Mourns the Wicked' to the breathtaking final moments, it’s clear that this team poured their hearts into every frame.
The cast, led by the luminous Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba and the effervescent Ariana Grande as Glinda, is extraordinary. Erivo’s performance is as brilliant as we all expected- her Elphaba is fierce, vulnerable, and heartbreakingly human. Of course, she also imbues every note with raw emotion, making every song a transcendent experience. Grande, meanwhile, brings a sparkling charm and necessary depth to Glinda, perfectly balancing her bubbly exterior with a poignant sincerity. The chemistry between the two is electric, capturing the complexities of friendship and rivalry that lie at the heart of the story, I am already buzzing with anticipation of how the pair are going to develop in Wicked: Part Two. Like with every aspect of this film, you can tell how much love has gone into it, Ariana and Cynthia's performances feel so incredibly lived in, you can tell how much they adore the roles and how they planned and turned every stone in finding their own versions. They feel true enough to the originals but also bring newness and fresh energy. The Winkie Prince doesn't have as developed of a role in Part One but Jonathan Bailey as Fiyero is still masterful. His smooth charisma is utterly swoon-worthy but more than that, his sincerity and depth is enchanting to watch. In my opinion, 'Dancing Through Life' is one of the most edited songs from the original, but it works so SO well. The new musical arrangement is very cool, with a more funkified feel that complements the show, while feeling totally relevant for a 2024 Wicked release; the whole scene is a joy to watch. Supporting performances by Ethan Slater as Boq, Jeff Goldblum as The Wizard and Michelle Yeoh as Madame Morrible round out the ensemble, each actor bringing something fresh to the beloved characters and paving the way for Part 2.
The music, brought to life with lush orchestration and gorgeous vocals, feels both reverent to Stephen Schwartz’s original score and fresh for this new medium. Familiar songs like 'Popular' and 'What is This Feeling' shine anew, while the staging and cinematography elevate them into true cinematic moments.
One of the greatest triumphs of this adaptation is its fidelity to the source material. Despite its aspirations of massive commercial success- evident from the ambitious marketing campaign- it never sacrifices the heart of the story or the integrity of the musical’s themes. This feels like a love letter to the fans who’ve cherished Wicked for years. Seeing the iconic Time Dragon Clock, the enigmatic blobby men (yes, the technical term!), guest star appearances, and subtle musical motifs scattered throughout feels like being reunited with an old friend. I also love how the cast were allowed to play around with riffs throughout the movie, something that's a big part of the Wicked fandom. There are whole YouTube compilations of the best 'Defying Gravity Riffs' and I have no doubt that the movie one will be added alongside all the others that perfectly fit and bring a freshness to the score that delivers on every level.
The world-building is nothing short of spectacular. Every corner of Oz is brought to life with meticulous attention to detail, from the verdant forests of Shiz and the university to the glittering, imposing Emerald City. Each setting feels wonderfully alive, creating a fully realised world that you can’t help but get lost in. It’s a treasure trove of visual and thematic delights, packed with details that will have fans poring over every frame on their fourth, fifth, or tenth viewing.
This is the kind of film that makes you want to shout about it, to grab everyone you know and say, “You have to see this!” Jon M. Chu and the entire team behind this masterpiece have created a work that will fill the hearts of longtime fans while dazzling new audiences with its brilliance.
For those of us who grew up with Wicked, this is more than just a movie- it’s a moment, a celebration, and a dream brought to live. I could go on for hours and I'm honestly still tearing up the morning after seeing this film, but in summary- it's perfect! Congratulotions to the cast, crew, and creators for giving us something so magical, so heartfelt, and so, so Wonderful. 💚

Full Cast Revealed for 2025 Tour of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat
Michael Harrison has announced additional casting for the highly anticipated second UK tour of the London Palladium production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. The show, which kicks off on December 3, 2024, at Edinburgh Playhouse, features two iconic Pharaohs- Donny Osmond and Joe McElderry- and introduces Christina Bianco as the Narrator and Adam Filipe as Joseph.

Global entertainment legend Donny Osmond will return to the stage in the UK for the first time in years, playing Pharaoh in this celebrated production. Having performed as Joseph in over 2,000 shows and starring in the 1999 filmed version with Joan Collins, Richard Attenborough, and Maria Friedman, Osmond brings his signature charisma to the role for a limited run. His UK dates will be exclusive to the Edinburgh Playhouse Christmas season.
Joining Osmond on tour is pop sensation and former Joseph star Joe McElderry, who takes over the role of Pharaoh across several UK locations. After his popular turn as Joseph in the 2017–2018 tour, McElderry is set to captivate audiences in venues like Sunderland’s Empire Theatre, Nottingham’s Theatre Royal, and Leicester’s Curve, among many others.
Christina Bianco, a two-time Drama Desk Award nominee and viral YouTube sensation known for her diva impressions and recent West End role as Glinda in The Wizard of Oz, will narrate the 2025 tour. She is joined by Adam Filipe as Joseph, whose credits include Titanic The Musical, The Prince of Egypt, and Les Misérables. Together, they will perform at all tour dates, promising show-stopping performances.
The ensemble features Hugh Cotton as Reuben and Will Haswell as Simeon. The full cast also includes Aaron Archer, Bella Baldock, Daniel Bowskill, Imogen Bowtell, Taylor Bridges, Joseph Browlie-Johnson, Joseph Craig, Davide Fienauri, Ellie Greenway, Oliver Hawes, Kiera Haynes, Siobhan James, Ben Lancaster, Nicole Lupino, Bradley Perret, Harvey Shulver, Jessica Sutton, Charley Warburton, Jenna Warne, and Alex Woodward. The children’s company will feature an array of talented young performers from across the UK.
The 2025 tour is directed by Laurence Connor, whose previous work includes School of Rock, Miss Saigon, and Les Misérables. Choreography is by JoAnn M Hunter, who has worked on 20 Broadway shows, including On A Clear Day You Can See Forever. Set and costume design is by Morgan Large, with lighting design by Ben Cracknell and sound design by Gareth Owen. The musical direction is led by John Rigby, with John Cameron as orchestrator.
Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat remains one of the world’s most beloved musicals, with its pop-infused score by Andrew Lloyd Webber and lyrics by Tim Rice. The show has been performed globally since its 1969 debut and features timeless hits like "Any Dream Will Do" and "Close Every Door."

In Conversation With... Rachel Tucker | UK Tour | Interview
Rachel Tucker is basically theatrical royalty, with a an impressive resume, an incredible voice and an extremely dedicated following. Currently touring the UK and about to start her second stint at the Zedel in London, Rachel was lovely enough to discuss what we can expect in her concerts, how she stays motivated, her dream role and much more...
What are some of your career highlights so far?
Wicked on Broadway, it was my absolute dream. The I'd Do Anything programme was a highlight, I loved it, it was great. Oh Wicked 10 is definitely the most recent highlight, it was amazing and a great night.
What keeps you motivated to keep working even when you're knocked down?
I guess the belief in myself, I know I can do it. I think people get confused with not getting the job, they think that it's a personal thing and 99% of the time it's not. It's just you're not right for them or at that particular time or moment for whatever their reasons are. But it's about remembering that it's not me, it's them. I mean not them, but their choice, not because I'm bad but because they don't want me.
Elphaba is obviously a very iconic role. How do you add your own spin on such well known songs and characters?
I try and approach it with a fresh look at it and as close to Rachel as I can because I think it's important to not copy and not be what everybody else thinks you should be and also because it's boring to do it the way someone else has done it when you're not being true to yourself. I'm a very honest person and I think it's very important to be honest with everything you think and how you approach the music and songs and interpret it as close to yourself as you possibly can.
You have a lot of repertoire, so what can people expect when they come and see you perform your solo concerts?
I like an eclectic collection of songs. I've grown up with old school musicals and entertainers and also love very current stuff like Ed Sheeran and I love standards, like some jazz standards. I also love modern musical theatre as well as the old stuff. So yeah, a real mixed bag. A real collection... and a few surprises thrown in for good measure!
If you could bring any guest star on stage with you, dead or alive, who would you pick?
Sammy Davis Jr, Bette Midler and Sting. Oh and probably Beyonce!
You've performed in a variety of venues both in shows and on tour. Do you prefer the bigger, elaborate ones or the smaller, more intimate ones?
They're all different, each of them brings a different thing. The intimate ones I think will be good to start out for me because they're more informal and I love that. You know, I'm not a formal girl, I love being casual and being able to see people and their reactions so that'll be nice. But I also love the big theatres where you have to look up to the balcony and get people joining in and singing along. So I like both.
You're taking this tour to Broadway with 54 Below, but would you ever consider touring it over there?
I think maybe in time, I mean it's taken ten years for me to be able to realistically tour the UK and these things I think take time so I think it'll be a little while longer before doing anything like that in America.
What's one talent you wish you could have?
I wish I could read music or play an instrument. Specifically the piano!
What are some funny moments you had either on stage or off stage?
Oh wow.... funny moments. I'm trying to think what ones I can tell you! At one point when I first did Wicked, I came back from holiday and I completely left out the whole bit of why Elphaba snatches the green bottle before 'Popular'. I literally couldn't remember a word of it and poor Gina Beck had to prompt me and say "was it because your mum was.....?" and she had to literally recite the whole paragraph and I just agreed with her. It was very scary!
Have you ever sneezed or got the hiccups in a performance?
Oh yeah completely. When I did The Wizard of Oz in Belfast, someone sneezed to me and I couldn't finish my lines cause I was laughing so hard. So absolutely, yes.
If you had a magic wand, which show would you do next?
Ohhh which show would I do next? I'd probably do a new show, a brand new show to originate and create a new role, yeah.
If you could go back to any era, when would you go to?
I think I'd go back to the 60s or actually probably the Hollywood MGM era like 20s or 30s
What is your go to karaoke song?
I recently went with my friend and I did 'Simply The Best' by Tina Turner!
What's the best piece of advice you've received or would like to give to someone hoping to get into the performing industry?
You've got to absolutely know your worth, know how good you are and be realistic with yourself and whether you can hack this industry. And think seriously if there's something else you could do then you probably should go and do it because you know, there was nothing else I could do and I think you've got to be very dedicated and very driven and passionate and care a lot about it. And have patience, it takes years and years to get anywhere. It doesn't just happen over night!

West End Does: Christmas in Oz Casting Announced
West End Does: Christmas is returning this December, and this year, it’s bringing a delightful Oz-themed twist to the festivities. The concert will blend holiday classics with beloved songs from The Wizard of Oz and Wicked, just as the film adaptation of Wicked prepares to grace UK cinemas a few days before the event, making for perfect timing.
The concerts will feature two choirs and a full West End orchestra, all under the direction of musical maestro Samuel Wilson. This year’s impressive lineup includes notable musical theatre stars, particularly alumni from Wicked: Louise Dearman, Sophie Evans, Alice Fearn, Oliver Tompsett, Liam Tamne, and Claudia Kariuki, who have all played key roles in the production.
Hosting the event will be Rob Houchen and Matt Lucas, both known for their work in Les Misérables, promising an evening filled with festive cheer and theatrical magic.

Full Main Stage Line Up Announced for the 2022 Gaiety Musical Theatre Festival
The Gaiety Musical Theatre Festival is pleased to announce the full main stage line up for this year’s festival at Ragley Hall, Warwickshire.
Britain’s Got Talent Winners Collabro, West End and Broadway star John Owen-Jones (Les Misérables, The Phantom of the Opera), direct from London’s West End Sophie Evans (Wicked, Wizard of Oz) and musical theatre star Lauren Samuels (Bend It Like Beckham, Grease).
They will join fellow headliners Kerry Ellis (We Will Rock You, Wicked, Oliver!), Lee Mead (Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Wicked, Legally Blonde the Musical), Cassidy Janson (&Juliet, Beautiful: The Carol King Musical, Avenue Q) and Marisha Wallace (Dreamgirls, Hairspray, Waitress) at Gaiety Musical Theatre Festival on Sunday 1st May 2022.
Gaiety Musical Theatre Festival, which will take place in the beautiful grounds of Ragley Hall in Warwickshire and is set to become a new highlight of the theatrical calendar.
